McAfee's on a Roll

SAN FRANCISCO -- Security software maker
McAfee
(MFE)
sailed past analyst estimates for the third quarter and issued a forecast for the coming quarter that is in line with analysts' expectations.
Net income soared to $62.9 million, or 38 cents a share, from $30.3 million, or 19 cents a share, a year ago.
Excluding charges, the company reported earnings of 44 cents a share, up from 36 cents a share in the same quarter in 2006. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial were expecting EPS of 40 cents.
Revenue was up 12% to $322 million from $287.8 million a year ago and higher than Street expectations of $320.24 million.
Shares of McAfee were up $1.01, or 2.7%, to $38.80 in recent after-hours trading.
Third-quarter revenue from corporate customers grew 11% to $186 million, driven by sales of McAfee's Total Protection product and network security sales.
Revenue from consumer products grew 14% to $136 million.
For the fourth quarter, McAfee expects revenue in the range of $330 million to $350 million.
Excluding items, it expects earnings in the range of 42 cents to 46 cents a share.
Analysts are expecting earnings of 43 cents a share on revenue of $339.60 million.
