Here’s the New Star Wars Trailer Everyone Is Talking About
A new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has showed up on Disney (DIS) - Get Report Japan's YouTube account, and it's everything you didn't know you were missing this November Friday.
The snippet features plenty of never-before-seen footage and action, including the first meeting between protagonists Finn and Rey. Harrison Ford makes an appearance as well, telling the pair, "The Force, it's true, all of it."
Opening in theaters on Dec. 18, this latest installment of the Star Wars franchise is arguably the most anticipate film release of the year.
Morgan Stanley analysts forecast the film to make about $500 million in its opening weekend alone and drive a 13% year-over-year increase in fourth quarter domestic box office sales. When tickets for the movie went on sale in October, traffic to online ticket retailer Fandango spiked seven times its typical peak levels.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens will mark the first new release in the Star Wars franchise since Lucasfilm was acquired by Disney for $4 billion in 2012. Its director JJ Abrams, whose previous work includes Star Trek, Alias and Lost, has remained extremely tight-lipped about the film, though he did permit one special fan a private screening.
As for the rest of us, we'll have to wait until December 18 -- you can follow the countdown clock here. And watch everyone freak out on Twitter:
