Handspring Falls on Warning
Handspring (HAND) was down 8.3% in preopen Island trading. After the close Thursday, the No. 2 handheld computer company warned that fourth-quarter revenue would be $60 million to $65 million -- half of its most recent forecast of $130 million -- due to price cuts and low consumer demand.
Earlier Thursday, the company said it was offering customers $100 toward the purchase of a new Visor Edge with the trade-ins of older model.
Arch-rival
Palm
(PALM)
was down 1.8%.
