Amazon's Kindle Boost: Morning Tech Bytes

Amazon has sold "millions" of e-readers this holiday season.

announced Monday morning in a blog post that consumers have purchased more Kindles in the past 73 days than the company sold in all of 2009. Amazon declined to specify the exact number of Kindles that have been sold, saying only it was in the "millions."

In other Amazon-related news, the company also said last week that it is extending its deadline for free shipping this holiday season. Orders placed through Dec. 17 will arrive by Dec. 24. Shipping is free on orders of $25 or more.

Shares of Amazon rose 0.5% in pre-market trading Monday to $176.50.
