Amazon U.K. Selling WikiLeaks Documents
NEW YORK (
) --
Amazon's
(AMZN) - Get Report
U.K. site is selling WikiLeaks documents.
The documents are in the form of an e-book for the Kindle titled "WikiLeaks documents expose US foreign policy conspiracies. All cables with tags from 1- 5000," self-published by Heinz Duthel.
This comes after Amazon refused to host the WikiLeaks Web site. WikiLeaks has been an embarrassment for the U.S. government over the past several weeks, exposing sensitive diplomatic documents.
Amazon is rumored to be among a growing list of companies targeted by anonymous hackers against those it believes are against WikiLeaks.
On Wednesday,
MasterCard
(MA) - Get Report
and
Visa
(V) - Get Report
were among the companies that reported technical difficulties with their Web sites after the anonymous hacker group said via Twitter that they were planning to attack both sites.
An attack on Amazon was reportedly expected to occur at 11 a.m. ET, but as of 11:21 a.m. the site appeared to be operating normally.
