$100 Bill, Google eBooks: Hot Trends

NEW YORK (
) -- "$100 bill" is a trending search topic today after it was reported that the government has shut down production of the new notes and have quarantined over a billion printed bills. An error occurred during the printing process when the paper creased improperly, causing parts of the new bills to be left blank.
Officials at the Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve announced in April that the new $100 bills were scheduled for release in February of 2011.
The new bills will include high-tech security features, such as a 3-D security strip and a color-changing image of a bell intended to thwart counterfeiters.
"Google eBooks" is a popular search topic today after the company announced that it is planning to launch an e-book sales and distribution service.

Google boasts the largest ebooks collection in the world, with its eBookstore containing more than 3 million titles.
The service is expected to launch in June or July of 2011, and will allow consumers to read material on a variety of devices.
"Money market funds" is a trending search topic today after the Islamic Financial Services board of regulators announced that it will revise its rules and regulations over its sharia banks' capital. The reforms are expected to be effective around 2013.
Secretary general Rifaat Ahmed Abdel Karim said the goal of the revisions is "not to put the Islamic financial services industry at a disadvantage and to provide them with a level playing field" relative to conventional banks.
In addition, Islamic banks will be offered a new set of money-market instruments in the coming months to give lenders the chance to help invest excess cash stored at central banks more profitably.
"Pfizer" is a hot search topic today following the news that Jeffrey B. Kindler has resigned as CEO of the world's largest drugmaker. His retirement was unexpected.

The company's board has appointed Ian C. Read, 57, as the new CEO, president and director. Read has been the head the company's global biopharmaceutical operations.
