Asian Stocks Get Boost from U.S. Earnings

) -- Asian stocks ended mostly higher Wednesday, buoyed by strong earnings reports from
Apple

Goldman Sachs

.
The Nikkei 225 stock average in Tokyo rose 189.37 points, or 1.7%, to 11,090.05. Shanghai's benchmark index gained 1.8%.
The Hang Seng index in Hong Kong was a laggard, falling 0.5% on Wednesday.
Stocks in London were down 0.3% while Frankfurt shares were rising 0.05%.
Tuesday posted adjusted earnings of $3.33 a share for the fiscal second quarter, up from the $1.79 profit in the year-ago quarter and well above the analysts' estimates of $2.45.
, meanwhile, delivered impressive first-quarter earnings Tuesday, driven by surging trading revenue, overshadowing for a day at least the
Securities and Exchange Commission's
civil fraud charges against the Wall Street company.
Premarket futures in the U.S. suggest stocks will open mixed Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the
Dow Jones Industrial Average
rose 25.01, or 0.2%, to 11,117.06. The
S&P 500
rose 0.8% and the
Nasdaq
composite index gained 0.8%.
