Asian Stocks End Mixed; Nikkei Falls 0.07%

) -- Asian stocks ended mixed Tuesday clawing back a bit from a selloff that was prompted by the
Securities and Exchange Commission's
fraud complaint against Wall Street firm

European shares were trading higher.
The Nikkei 225 stock average in Tokyo fell 0.07% to 10,900.68. Shanghai's benchmark stock index fell 0.03% after declining 4.8% the previous session after the government took more action to restrain property prices. The Hang Seng index in Hong Kong rose 1%.
Goldman Sachs reports earnings before the opening bell Tuesday in the U.S., perhaps diverting attention away from the firm's troubles with the SEC which filed Friday a civil complaint against Goldman alleging fraud in the firm's marketing of a subprime mortgage product.
In New York Monday, the
Dow Jones Industrial Average
rose 73.39, or 0.7%, to 11,092.05. The
S&P 500
index gained 0.5%, while the
Nasdaq
composite index slipped 0.1%.
Premarket futures suggest stocks in the U.S. will open mixed Tuesday.
