Apple's Fear Shows in Google Attack: Today's Outrage
SAN FRANCISCO (

Android is proving to be enough of a threat to the iPhone that
Apple is mounting a legal attack against HTC
, the Taiwanese maker of Google's Nexus One and other Android phones.
Apple claims HTC violated 20 iPhone patents
. Translation: The Nexus One is pretty darn good so HTC must have stolen the iPhone technology.
You know the threat is real when companies take the battle to court. If Google's Android operating system didn't look like a contender to the iPhone's throne, Apple wouldn't waste its time or money going after HTC.
From Apple's perspective, it seems patently impossible (pun intended) for any other company to have invented a phone as cool as the iPhone.
The magic of multi-touch sensors on a tiny screen is unquestionably Apple's breakthrough technology, but is Apple the only company in the world that could possibly create such a great user experience?
We'll have to wait for the court to answer that question. In the meantime, Apple's attack against Google's main partner only serves as proof that Android is a credible threat to the iPhone.
