Tokyo, Hong Kong Rise; Europe Mixed

Shares in Tokyo and Hong Kong ended modestly higher Monday, while shares in Europe were mixed after a report that showed U.S. gross domestic product rose an annualized 5.7% in the fourth quarter.

) -- Shares in Tokyo and Hong Kong ended modestly higher Monday, while shares in Europe were mixed after a report that showed U.S. gross domestic product rose an annualized 5.7% in the fourth quarter.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 stock average rose 0.07% to 10,205.02, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.6%. Stocks in China fell 1.6% Monday on news that manufacturing activity rose in January, giving investors further belief that the Chinese government will look to curb economic growth, the

reports.

In London, stocks gained 0.2%, while stocks in Frankfurt added 0.07%, Paris shares fell 0.2%.

Premarket futures in the U.S. suggested stocks would open higher on Wall Street Monday. Stocks in the U.S. fell Friday, as investors put little stock in the GDP data.
