NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Shares of Burlington Stores  (BURL) - Get Report are up 3.05% to $59.13 in afternoon trading Tuesday, following the off-price retailer's better than expected fourth quarter earnings results, released this morning. Earlier today, shares hit an intraday high of $59.78 per share.

For the quarter, the company reported earnings of $1.43 per share, better than the consensus estimate of $1.32 per share.

Revenue came in at $1.49 billion, topping the $1.47 billion analysts were expecting.

Comparable store sales rose 6.7% for the quarter, an improvement from the 4% growth it reported a year ago.

Burlington Stores now sees full year 2015 earnings in a range of between $2.15 to $2.25 per share, lower versus the consensus estimate of $2.26 per share.

The company expects to report first quarter earnings in a range of between 36 cents to 40 cents per share, also lower compared to the 41 cents analysts are expecting.

Burlington, NJ-based Burlington Stores is a national off-price retailer of branded apparel, operating 503 stores in 44 states and Puerto Rico.

The company offers savings of up to 70% off department and specialty store regular prices.

It provides customers with a selection of fashionable branded product in women's ready-to-wear apparel, menswear, youth apparel, baby products, footwear, accessories, home goods and coats.

"We rate BURLINGTON STORES INC (BURL) a SELL. This is driven by a number of negative factors, which we believe should have a greater impact than any strengths, and could make it more difficult for investors to achieve positive results compared to most of the stocks we cover. The area that we feel has been the company's primary weakness has been its feeble growth in its earnings per share."
