Asian Stocks End Mixed; Nikkei Gains 0.1%

Asian stocks ended mixed Monday with Japanese shares posting a slight rise to mark the Nikkei 225 average's highest close since Jan. 21.

) -- Asian stocks ended mixed Monday with Japanese shares posting a slight rise to mark the Nikkei 225 average's highest close since Jan. 21.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei rose 0.1% to 10,751.98. In Hong Kong, stocks fell 0.6%.

In China, Shanghai's benchmark stock index fell 1.2% following comments from China Premier Wen Jiabao the nation would keep its currency "basically stable" and that the yuan wasn't overvalued.

Premarket futures suggested stocks in the U.S. would open mixed Monday.

On Friday, the

Dow Jones Industrial Average

closed with a gain of 0.1%, while the

S&P 500

and

Nasdaq

declined 0.02% and 0.03%, respectively.
