Asian Stocks End Lower; Europe Slips
NEW YORK (
) -- Asian stocks closed lower Thursday and European shares were slipping following a slide on Wall Street following two days of gains.
The Nikkei 225 average in Tokyo fell 0.5% to 10,355.98.
Toyota

declined 3.5% after reporting after the bell that it was
raising its full-year earnings forecast
. However, the automaker is still dealing with the fallout from a global recall of cars because of sticking gas pedals and questions about brake trouble on its top-selling hybrid Prius.
The Hang Seng index in Hong Kong fell 1.8%. Shanghai's benchmark stock index dropped 0.3%.
In London, stocks fell 0.8%, and were down 0.7% and 0.8% in Frankfurt and Paris, respectively. Shares of
Royal Dutch Shell
(RDS.A)
fell about 2% after saying the
was "uncertain."

Dow Jones Industrial Average
fell 26.30, or 0.3%, to 10,270.55 on Wednesday. The
