Auburn-Oregon Tops BCS Bowl Lineup

Two high-powered offenses will face off in the BCS title game in Glendale, Ariz.., on Jan. 10.

) -- No. 1 Auburn and No. 2 Oregon, coming off impressive final-game victories Saturday, will face off in the Tostitos

BCS National Championship

game on Jan. 10 to decide the king of college football.

The other BCS games will feature:

  • No. 5 Wisconsin vs. No. 3 TCU in the Rose Bowl (Jan. 1)
  • Connecticut vs. No. 7 Oklahoma in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl (Jan. 1)
  • No. 4 Stanford vs. No. 13 Virginia Tech in the Discover Orange Bowl (Jan. 3)
  • No. 6 Ohio State vs. No. 8 Arkansas in the Allstate Sugar Bowl (Jan. 4)

Aside from Ohio State vs. Arkansas, on New Year's Day we'll see a mini Big Ten-SEC challenge: Alabama vs. Michigan State in the Capital One Bowl; Florida vs. Penn State in the Outback Bowl; and Michigan vs. Mississippi State in the Gator Bowl.

The BCS lineup headlines a slate of

35 bowl games

, including such budding classics as the Beef 'O' Brady's St. Petersburg Bowl (Southern Mississippi vs. Louisville, Dec. 21) and the New Era Pinstripe Bowl (Kansas State vs. Syracuse at Yankee Stadium, Dec. 30) to the Military Bowl Presented by Northop Grumman (East Carolina vs. Maryland, Dec. 29) and the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl (North Carolina vs. Tennessee, Dec. 30).

No. 11 Boise State, which lost its BCS spot in a heartbreaking WAC title game defeat to Nevada, heads to the MAACO Las Vegas Bowl against No. 19 Utah on Dec. 22. No. 15 Nevada, a team that finished 12-1, will meet a 7-5 Boston College team in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on Jan. 9 in San Francisco.

Notre Dame and Miami, who staged some heated contests in the 1980s, will meet in the Hyundai Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas, on New Year's Eve.
