World's Largest Stocks and Who Owns Them

In its April 24 issue,
Forbes
magazine came out with its annual Global 2000 list of the largest companies in the world.
Forbes
uses four metrics to measure how large the companies are: sales, profits, assets and market value. It is interesting to note that the list is heavily weighted with banks and oil stocks.

General Electric

, GE might sell off its appliance unit and receive $5 billion to $8 billion for it. The stock has a P/E of 15 and a PEG of 1.34, and it pays a yield of 3.8%.

, which Gore co-founded with David Blood, formerly of Goldman Sachs. The firm has about $1 billion under management, with returns above benchmarks. Generation also owns
