WikiLeaks

plans to sue credit card companies

Visa

over their refusal to process donations to the Web site, the

Associated Press

reports.

Andreas Fink, the CEO of Iceland's

DataCell ehf

, told the

AP

he would seek damages from the credit card firms over their decision to block WikiLeaks funds.

Earlier this week,

Visa and MasterCard

cut their ties to the controversial Web site.

"Visa Europe has taken action to suspend Visa payment acceptance on WikiLeaks' website pending further investigation into the nature of its business and whether it contravenes Visa operating rules," a Visa spokesman said in an emailed statement to

TheStreet

.

WikiLeaks has been under pressure since the Web site last week released more than 250,000 sensitive government documents related to U.S. foreign relations.
