Volkswagen Thinks It Could Get 300 Plus New Electric Cars on Road By 2030
Volkswagen says that it will sell 3 million battery powered vehicles by 2025.
Volkswagen AG (VLKAY) has been very vocal about its battery powered aspirations in recent months, and the company announced that it plans to build 50 purely battery-powered models by 2025, and have an EV version of all 300 of its models by 2030.
CEO Matthias Mueller made the announcement ahead of the Frankfurt auto show Monday, saying that the company was ready to spend as much as $24 billion on the transformation.
The company also said that it is willing to spend more than double that amount on the batteries needed to power the electric vehicles.
"We have got the message and we will deliver. The transformation in our industry is unstoppable. And we will lead that transformation," Mueller said.
