A Raytheon (RTN) - Get Report Standard Missile-6 successfully intercepted a medium-range ballistic missile target at sea in a test in the Pacific, the company said in a Wednesday statement.

The SM-6 shot down the target, which was fired from the USS John Paul Jones, in its final seconds of flight. The successful at-sea SM-6 missile test proves the product can now defend against medium-range ballistic threats on land, in the air and in open water.

The missile first successfully engaged a ballistic missile target in its terminal stages in a flight mission once in 2015 and again in 2016. Raytheon has delivered more than 330 SM-6 missiles, and the Department of Defense has approved the sale of Raytheon SM-6 missiles to several allied nations.

Raytheon stock traded down 0.3% to $181.59 midday Wednesday.
