Facebook Outlines its Monetization Guidelines
Facebook (FB) - Get Report on Wednesday published a set of guidelines laying out its monetization reliability standards to provide further transparency on which types of publishers and creators are eligible to earn money on the social media giant's platform.
First and foremost publishers and creators alike must comply with Facebook's policies and terms including its Community Standards, Payment Terms, and Page Terms. Any party seeking monetization on Facebook who breaks those policies or engages in "fraudulent business practices" is ineligible to monetize its features.
Another is that creators and publishers must have an "authentic, established presence on Facebook," meaning they have had a profile or Facebook page for at least one month. Other monetization features, including Ad Breaks, will require those persons or groups to have a sufficient follower base.
Any party sharing clickbait, sensationalism or false information may be ineligible or even lose their ability to monetize.
"While the guidelines do not cover every scenario, they are a good indicator of what types of content are likely to generate more revenue," Facebook said. "If your content does not comply with these standards, we will notify you that we have removed the ads."
Parties will be given the ability to appeal Facebook's decision to remove their content.
