Facebook (FB) - Get Report is planning to launch a new device that will combine watching TV with making calls, according to a new report.

The social media giant approached Netflix (NFLX) - Get Report , Disney (DIS) - Get Report , Hulu, Amazon (AMZN) - Get Report and HBO about making their streaming services available on the new television-connected device, which is codenamed Catalina within the company. It tentatively plans to release the new device in October, according to The Information, and will come with a physical remote.

It's not the same as Facebook's Portal device, a smart speaker with a screen for making video calls that it introduced in 2018, but the new device will use the same video calling technology, The Information reported.

Facebook hasn't disclosed sales figures for Portal, but in April, it slashed the price of the device from $199 to $99.

Facebook shares were up 0.34% on Wednesday and have risen 45% so far this year.
