Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has joined other billionaires who plan to give away a majority of their fortunes to charity.

founder Mark Zuckerberg has joined other billionaires who plan to give away a majority of their fortunes to charity.

Zuckerberg, like New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and

Oracle

(ORCL) - Get Report

founder Larry Ellison before him, has signed the "Giving Pledge."

The campaign, organized by

Microsoft's

(MSFT) - Get Report

Bill Gates

and billionaire investor

Warren Buffett

, is an "effort to invite the wealthiest individuals and families in America to commit to giving the majority of their wealth to the philanthropic causes and charitable organizations of their choice either during their lifetime or after their death," the group's Web site says.

The number of donors now totals 57.

co-founder Steve Case and investor Carl Icahn are also among those to newly sign the pledge.

Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz also has signed on.
