Alaska division, was killed Saturday by an avalanche, according to published media reports.
Bowles had been riding a snowmobile in the Grandview wilderness area near Seward, Alaska when the avalanche struck at about noon, according to the

Helene Harding, the vice president of the oil and gas company's North Slope operations and development, will temporarily perform Bowles' job,

reported, citing a company representative.
Rescuers have recovered Bowles' body, but weather had complicated a search for the body of a fellow ConocoPhillips employee, Alan Gage, the

reported. Officials believe Gage, a member of ConocoPhillips' capital projects team in Anchorage, is also dead, the
AP
added.
The two men were among 12 people riding snowmobiles when the avalanche struck.
Shares of ConocoPhillips finished Friday down 23 cents at $48.67.
