Conan O'Brien to Launch Show on TBS
Updated from Monday, April 12NEW YORK(TheStreet) -- Late-night talk show host Conan O'Brien will be joining TBS.
O'Brien's new show, it was announced Monday, is scheduled to debut in November. The Emmy-winning comedian's new program will be followed by
Lopez Tonight
, which will shift to a midnight time slot. O'Brien's show will air at 11 p.m. weeknights.
O'Brien began talks with TBS just last week, after George Lopez personally called him to ask that he consider joining the network's late-night line-up.
Fox, owned by parent company
News Corp.
(NWSA) - Get Report
, was widely expected to be in the running to land O'Briens return to late night. But those talks reportedly developed snags, allowing TBS, a subsidiary of
Time Warner
(TWX)
, to sign O'Brien.
O'Brien's five-year TBS contract gives him ownership of the show, the
Associated Press
reports, citing a person familiar with the deal.
