Citi in Talks to Hire Ex-White House Official

is reportedly in hiring discussions with the former White House Budget Director Peter Orszag,
Bloomberg
said, citing people familiar with the matter.
Orszag, 41, is apparently considering a job in Citi's investment banking division. An announcement is imminent, sources told
Bloomberg
.
Orszag stepped down in July as White House budget director for the Obama Administration after 18 months in the position. He reportedly helped form the U.S. economic stimulus package during the worst of the financial crisis as well as the health care overhaul,

writes. Orszag's schooling includes Princeton University and the London School of Economics.
The economist has also become a distinguished visiting fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations as well as a contributing columnist for the
New York Times
.
Ironically, Orszag's successor as budget director, Jacob Lew, worked at Citi from 2006 to 2009,
Bloomberg
says.
Orszag's resume also includes positions with the Clinton Administration as well. There he also worked with former U.S Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin, who also served a short stint at Citi, overseeing the hiring of CEO Vikram Pandit three years ago.
A Citi spokeswoman declined to comment to
TheStreet
on Wednesday.
Citi shares were rising 1.7% to $4.27 shortly before the market opened.
