While speaking at the Morgan Stanley Laguna Conference on Wednesday, Boeing (BA) - Get Report CEO Dennis Muilenburg stated that the airline manufacturer would boost production of its 787 Dreamliner passenger jets to 14 a month in 2019.

The announcement by Muilenburg illustrates that Boeing's demand for the aircraft was sufficient enough to raise production after the company previously said it would put any such plans on hold until it gauged the jet's demand.

The decision to boost production also follows Tuesday's purchase of eight 787 jets by Malaysian airlines for $1.8 billion.

Shares of Boeing were climbing over 1% higher in afternoon trading on Wednesday following Muilenburg's presentation.
