Auto Recalls Reach 20 Million in 2010

Toyota
(TM) - Get Report
helped lead the auto industry to the highest number of vehicle recalls since 2004.
According to a study of preliminary federal data conducted by the
Associated Press
, approximately 20 million vehicles were recalled in the U.S. in 2010. It was the highest recall level since 2004, when 30.8 million vehicles were recalled.

Toyota held the top spot with 7.1 million vehicles recalled.
General Motors
(GM) - Get Report
recalled about 4 million vehicles.
Ford
(F) - Get Report
recalled over 500,000 vehicles, Chrysler 1.5 million and
Honda
(HMC) - Get Report
and
Nissan
(NSANY)
each brought in more than 2 million.
