Anthem to Bow Out of Obamacare Exchange in Nevada, Georgia Next Year
Healthcare insurer Anthem Inc. (ANTM) - Get Report announced Monday that it will be withdrawing as an option in Obamacare exchanges in Nevada and Georgia beginning in 2018.
Nevada currently has 14 counties that do not have individual health plans for individuals under Obamacare. That number will not change based on Anthem's decision, however.
"Planning and pricing for ACA-compliant health plans has become increasingly difficult due to a shrinking and deteriorating individual market, as well as continual changes and uncertainty in federal operations, rules and guidance, including cost sharing reduction subsidies and the restoration of taxes on fully insured coverage," the company said in a statement.
Anthem shares were even at $190.33 in afternoon trading on weak volume on Monday.
Editor's note: story has been updated to include Georgia.
