Angry Birds Worth $2 Billion?
The company that makes Angry Birds could go public soon.
The company behind the popular mobile game Angry Birds, Rovio Entertainment Oy, is considering going public. The IPO could value the firm at $2 billion according to people familiar with the matter, Bloomberg reported.
Rovio has not made a final decision yet and could stay private for a little while longer.
Originally released as a mobile game in 2009, there are now 15 versions of the popular app. Within five years, the first game had been downloaded more than 2 billion times.
The company's 2016 film 'Angry Birds' proved a big hit at the box office, bringing in about $350 million worldwide. A sequel is being planned for release in 2019.
