Amazon Faces Discrimination Lawsuit Brought by Transgender Former Employee
The Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund filed a lawsuit against Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) - Get Report on behalf of Allegra Schawe-Lane and Dane Lane, a transgender woman and her partner, claiming co-workers harassed and attempted to humiliate the pair once a coworker revealed that Allegra is a transgender woman.
The suit alleges that members of management made derogatory comments to Allegra, calling her a multitude of disparaging names.
"While driving home one day from the secure Amazon parking lot, they found that the brakes on their car were not working correctly, and learned from their mechanic that the brake line was intentionally severed, putting the couple at significant risk of serious injury or death," a blog post by the TLDEF stated.
The lawsuit seeks compensation for the pair for the losses they endured as a result of Amazon's alleged actions.
