7 Retailers Vying for Amazon Prime Day Dollars
Amazon (AMZN) - Get Report has vowed that the second annual "Prime Day" will be bigger and better this year, with more than 100,000 deals worldwide available exclusively for members of the online retail giant's Prime subscription service.
Other retailers looking to piggyback on Amazon's sale day in hopes that online shoppers might also veer to their Web sites to cash in have launched their own deals and summer sales.
There is still plenty of time to take advantage of the other sales we found.
Macy's
is kicking off its "Black Friday in July" on Tuesday. Starting at 12 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12, customers can preview Macy's "Black Friday in July" sale online at Macys.com -- with free shipping on all orders.
Macy's is selling the KitchenAid 5-Qt. Professional Stand Mixer for $199.99. Macy's was selling the item for $299.99 (the mixer's full price is $429.)
Its Travel Select Bay Front 3 Piece Luggage Set is on sale for $39.99, originally selling for $79.99. (The luggage's full price was $160.)
Macy's is also selling select Havaianas Women's Slim Flip Flops for roughly half off the original price of $26 to $28.
Customers can continue to shop "Black Friday in July" prices Wednesday through Sunday, July 17, both in store and online. Online customers will get free shipping for any order over $50.
Walmart Stores
is offering free shipping with no minimum purchase on all online orders for five days. The deal started on Monday.
Walmart is also offering "rollbacks" on electronics, home furnishings, outdoor items, air conditioners and toys, among other items.
Walmart is selling the Straight Talk Apple iPhone 6 Plus 16GB 4G LTE Prepaid Smartphone for $499, originally priced at $649.
Walmart has got other retailers beat on its price for the Disney Frozen SUV 12V Battery-Operated Ride-On at $249, originally $299.
Toysrus.com and Babiesrus.com shoppers will receive 15% off regular-priced items and find more than 50,000 toys and baby products on sale on Tuesday.
The company says site-wide savings will include action figures, dolls, bikes, powered ride-ons and lots and lots of toys. Don't forget the baby gear, furniture, bedding and essential items.
Shoppers on both sites can take advantage of a free shipping offer on orders of $19 or more.
J.C. Penney
is hosting "Penney Palooza" for the 48 hours through July 12. Shoppers can use code NEWLOOK6 for 25% off online purchases (30% when using a J.C. Penney card). The store is also offering 15% off select watches, salon products, furniture, mattresses, custom blinds and shades.
Kohl's
is throwing its hat into the ring by offering "Beat the Heat Buys," of daily deals through July 14.
One online deal that stood out on Tuesday was the Britax B-Agile 4 & B-Safe 35 Travel System on sale for $299.99. The travel system stroller usually sells for $449.99. (Additional promo codes and coupons are not valid for this item.)
For July 12, it is also offering customers an extra 20% off most online purchases with code QUICKQUICK. (Kohl's has free standard shipping with purchases of $75 or more.)
Best Buy
is promoting its "Hottest Deals" promotion as "Deals for All. No Membership Needed."
For instance, Best Buy is selling the Fitbit-Blaze Smart Fitness Watch in black on sale for $184.99, originally priced at $199.95.
Gap
is offering up to 60% off merchandise online and in stores across women's, men's, girls', boys' and GapFit clothes. But from 12 a.m. July 12 through 11:59 p.m. on July 13, online customers can take an extra 35% off on select merchandise using the code SUN.
