25 Crazy Foods Americans Love to Eat on Thanksgiving
Does lamb curry sound like something you would want to eat on Thanksgiving?
Maybe not, but apparently many people do, even though the dish does not sound very "Thanksgiving-like," since many Americans are all about turkey and stuffing on that day. Yet, people are three times more likely to order lamb curry from their favorite takeout place on the holiday as compared to a normal Thursday, according to findings from online and mobile food ordering company GrubHub.
GrubHub came up with the list of most-ordered foods by culling takeout and delivery orders through its Web site during November 2014. The Chicago-based company calculated the percentage of a dish being found in all orders on Thanksgiving Day and compared them to the percentage they are typically found in orders as defined as the prior four Thursdays to Thanksgiving Thursday.
Indian foods dominated the list, continuing a trend from last year, which could be because the restaurants stay open on Thanksgiving. Another popular trend -- ordering breakfast, and not just breakfast sandwiches, but full-blown meals, such as huevos rancheros, Belgian waffles and chocolate chip pancakes, according to GrubHub.
Let's not forget that the night before Thanksgiving is one of the biggest party nights of the year, so some of the foods on the list might be there in their capacity as "hangover foods."
