S-XGen: BlackBerry Meets a Subnotebook

This gadget is cool, but the price is not.
By Diana Forbes ,

Are you often frustrated when typing on tiny BlackBerry keys? The cool news about S-XGen is that it has a foldable keyboard, making data entry easier than on a BlackBerry. If the price comes down to about a third of its current cost, Gadget Grrl says this would be a great product for mobile execs. Also, the Bluetooth Dongle pairs up your laptop with up to seven Bluetooth devices. What's neat here is that it is compatible with both PCs and Macs.

For mobile executives who get pummeled with email, there are devices that arebeing released to address this matter. One of these is the S-XGen. It's somewhere between a BlackBerry and a subnotebook.

The big news here is the foldable keyboard, making data entry easier than on a BlackBerry.

The 4" high definition screen is clear (but not quite as crisp as a MacBook).Bluetooth, a 10-hour battery life and 11 oz weight are some of the features that would make this appealing to any business traveler.

The base model comes with a 520 MHz processor, 256MB of RAM and a 20GB hard drive. You won't be gaming on the base model, but if you amped it up, you mightbe able to carry a few on the road.

Ideally, I'd like to see this priced at under $500. Until then, if you are sick of typing on tiny keys, this might work.

This is a device you will be seeing more and more of in the months to come.

This particular model comes with some host software for ease of use. What this is for is pairing other Bluetooth devices with your laptop. Unlike some of the other devices out there, this oneis compatible with both PCs and Macs.

With the device you can pair up to seven Bluetooth devices within a 300-foot range.
