Airbus is paying a record dividend as its profit jumps 59 percent. Europe's largest plane maker overcame problems with its military aircraft program due to strong orders from airlines. Airbus will boost production as its popular A320 single aisle jet to 50 planes a month, starting in 2017. Airbus, as well as rival Boeing have enjoyed a surge of orders in recent years as airlines seek growth and look to replace less fuel efficient planes with more efficient models. Airbus also said its working on an updated version of the plane, called A330, for a new engine option. Airbus shares are trading near its high for the year of 55.09.
