Fewer Americans filed for unemployment benefits last week. Initial claims dropped 6,000 to 289,000, that's more than economists had expected. The Labor Department report also showed continuing claims fell the prior week by 147,000 to 2.37 million. Dunkin Brands (DNKN) slumped in early trading after the company slashed its key sales target and issued disappointing earnings guidance. Shares of Sony (SNE) could be active after the decision to pull its release of 'The Interview.' The movie was set to debut on Christmas Day. On Wednesday, theater operators including AMC (AMC) and Regal (RGC) dropped plans to show the film after threats from hackers.
