Microsoft (MSFT) has sold its map-generating technology to ride-hailing app company Uber. It is believed the firm will use the technology as part of its plans to develop a self driving car. The tech giant also sold its display advertising business to AOL and AppNexus as part of a major reorganization. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has been saying he wants to focus more on the company's core software business and related services, while warning employees of the need to "make some tough choices in areas where things are not working." AOL, which is now owned by Verizon (V) is adopting Microsoft's Bing search engine, replacing Google as the default option for visitors who want to search the Internet on AOL websites.
