An estimated 700,000 people are expected to visit the U.S. Tennis Center over the next two weeks to see the greatest players in the world compete. But those visitors are only a fraction of the millions of people expected to visit the USTA's online apps and website. The job of gathering all the data and analyzing the analytics falls to IBM, the tournament's official IT provider. IBM's Watson system is helping to analyze all the data that's being collected on the field. The Watson program combines computer programming and unstructured data collection to help take the guesswork out of knowing when spikes in traffic to the site, over the two week period, may occur. Kent says tracking that data in real time can help them make sure the USTA site runs without any hiccups. TheStreet's Ruben Ramirez reports from Flushing, Queens.
