U.S. law enforcement officials are speaking out against Apple and Google's steps to strengthen privacy protections guarding personal data on smartphones. Apple says on its privacy page, 'Unlike our competitors, Apple cannot bypass your passcode and therefore cannot access this data. So it's not technically feasible for us to respond to government warrants for the extraction of this data from devices in their possession running iOS 8.' FBI director James Comey recently said FBI officials have spoken with Apple and Google about the marketing of their devices. He said, 'What concerns me about this is companies marketing something expressly to allow people to place themselves beyond the law.'
