Tuesday, October 21 – Alan Knuckman reports from the floor of the CME Group in Chicago, where 2 of the 3 major indexes were up another 1% yesterday. The S&P e-mini futures closed at 1,900, the Dow was up to 16,331, hurt a bit by the IBM miss, while the Nasdaq led and finished the day at 3,866. The dollar closed at 85.04, down slightly, with the Euro at 1.2813. Bonds went nowhere yesterday, up a few ticks to 143'03. Crude fell to 81.91 and gold was up to 1,245. This morning, equities are holding firm, with the dollar and euro unchanged. Bonds are pulling back slightly. Crude is up slightly, while gold is acting strong as the dollar stays pat.
