An iconic New York brand, New York Cruise Lines, announced the appointment of Danny Boockvar as CEO. Boockvar says, while the Internet and innovation are key to growth - experiences, memories and storytelling are still and will always be part of the equation for the industry and New York Cruise Lines, in particular. And it passes down to our local economy as well. According to an economic impact study, the cruise industry generated a total economic impact of $229.5 million in 2013. Passengers and crew spent more than $140 million in New York City last year, a 16% increase from 2012. Boockvar meets with TheStreet’s Jill Malandrino and explains how his corporate experience at the Girl Scouts of The USA and Weight Watchers are a natural fit because at the end of the day, all of the companies are connected by one thing: building iconic brands that recognize the demands of the consumer.
