NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Stocks closed solidly in positive territory on Friday, as positive earnings helped offset reports of a drop in consumer confidence and a wider trade deficit.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 73 points, or 0.7%, to 10,270. The S&P 500 gained 6 points, or 0.6%, to 1093, as the Nasdaq advanced 19 points, or 0.9%, to 2168.

For the week, the Dow gained 2.5%, the S&P rose 2.3% and the Nasdaq climbed 2.6%. ...
