The second-quarter earnings season started last week with Alcoa's (AA Quote) report, but Tuesday will bring the first true heavyweight report, courtesy of Goldman Sachs (GS Quote).
Goldman Sachs, scheduled to report ahead of Tuesday's opening bell, is expected to earn more than $1.7 billion, or $3.47 a share, according to consensus estimates of 16 analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters . The company earned $4.58 a share in the year-ago quarter.
Goldman will set the stage for other bank companies scheduled to report later this week, including Bank of America (BAC Quote), JPMorgan Chase (JPM Quote) and Citigroup (C Quote). ...
