Glover Wins Rain-Soaked U.S. Open

American Lucas Glover on Monday won a rain-soaked U.S. Open golf championship at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y., as sentimental favorite Phil Mickelson fell just short once again.

Glover, who entered the day tied for the lead at 7-under par with Ricky Barnes, shot a 3-over-par 73 to win by 2 strokes. Mickelson, who recently took time away from the PGA Tour to be with his wife, who is suffering from breast cancer, tied for second with Barnes and David Duval.

Tiger Woods, who shot a one-under-par 69 Monday, finished even, tied for sixth. ...
