Ecolab 1Q Profit Falls 44 Percent On Charge, Sales

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Ecolab Inc., which provides cleaning and pest-control services, said Tuesday its first-quarter profit fell 44 percent on charges along with a decline in cleaning and sanitizing operations revenue.

Ecolab earned $57.4 million, or 24 cents per share, down from profit of $102.9 million, or 41 cents per share, in the same period last year. Sales fell 8 percent to $1.35 billion from $1.46 billion.

Excluding charges, the company said it earned 33 cents per share. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected profit of 33 cents per share on revenue of $1.41 billion. ...
