After watching the media's coverage of yesterday's large drop in the U.S. stock market, I almost expected the talking heads (especially of a Ben Stein-kind) to blame the market's schmeissing on the New York Giants' Super Bowl win.

After all:

• The Giants' first Super Bowl win in 1987 was followed by the October 1987 stock market crash.
