Energy-related exchange-traded funds were among the best performers Friday, as the looming summer driving season pushed crude oil higher.
Oil futures were up 65 cents to $70.22 a barrel. The Ultra Oil & Gas ProShares (DIG Quote) was up $2.71, or 2.8%, to $98.90. The SPDR S&P Oil & Gas Equipment & Services (XES Quote) was adding 59 cents, or 1.8%, to $37.28. The PowerShares Dynamic Oil & Gas Services (PXJ Quote) rose 43 cents, or 1.8%, to $26.07. The iShares Dow Jones U.S. Oil & Gas Exploration Index (IEO Quote) was higher by 96 cents, or 1.7%, to $59.05.
A huge earnings beat by Research In Motion (RIMM Quote) propelled the Wireless HOLDRs (WMH Quote) ETF higher. The BlackBerry maker was also upgraded by Bank of America and JMP Securities, and the stock was soaring by 20%. The ETF was recently adding $1.62, or 2.4%, to $68.61. ...
