Shares of Novatel Wireless(NVTL Quote) were among technology's winners Monday, rising 10% after the company boosted its first-quarter outlook.
The maker of wireless-access cards now sees adjusted earnings of 35 cents a share, up from a prior forecast of 16 cents. Novatel projects revenue of more than $100 million, compared with its previous guidance of $80 million. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call project earnings of 10 cents a share and revenue of $80.7 million. Shares were trading up $1.50 to $16.68.
Alcatel-Lucent(ALU Quote) climbed 3% after the telecom-equipment giant signed a $6 billion with Verizon Wireless. The three-year deal calls for Alcatel-Lucent to supply Verizon Wireless with an array of network equipment, software, and services. Shares of Alcatel-Lucent were trading up 39 cents to $11.92. ...
