Exchange-traded funds tracking software makers were among Monday's top performers. Among individual names, Symantec (SYMC Quote) was adding 2.8%, Adobe Systems (ADBE Quote) was gaining 2.7%, and Oracle (ORCL Quote) was higher by 1.7%.
The Software HOLDRs(SWH Quote) was adding 58 cents, or 1.5%, to $40.38, and the iShares Goldman Sachs Software Index(IGV Quote) ETF was rising by 47 cents, or 1.1%, to $44.72.
Telecom-related ETFs were also stronger. DirecTV (DTV Quote) was adding 3.8%, Level 3 Communications (LVLT Quote) was gaining 2.2%, and Verizon (VZ Quote) was edging higher by 1.2%. ...
