SupportSoft(SPRT Quote) rose after the Redwood City, Calif.-based software company beat Wall Street's third-quarter expectations. The company made $1.7 million, or 4 cents a share, compared with a loss of $85,000, in the year-ago period. Excluding items, SupportSoft broke even on a per-share basis. Analysts were looking for a loss of 3 cents a share. Shares were trading up 77 cents, or 16.5%, to $5.44.
Cohu(COHU Quote) climbed more than 13% after the Poway, Calif.-based semiconductor-equipment company beat analysts' third-quarter expectations. The company posted earnings of 18 cents a share, 6 cents ahead of estimates. Shares were trading up $2.48 to $21.38.
Stoneridge(SRI Quote) gained after the Warren, Ohio-based company, which makes components and systems for cars and trucks, swung to a third-quarter profit. The company earned $4.4 million, or 19 cents a share, compared with a loss of $3.3 million, or 14 cents a share, a year ago. The company also reaffirmed its 2006 guidance, which should exceed estimates. Shares climbed 76 cents, or 9.7%, to $8.56. ...
