Shares of Netgear(NTGR Quote) were among technology's winners Friday, jumping 16% after the networking-equipment company posted better-than-expected third-quarter results and guided fourth-quarter revenue forecasts higher.
The company earned $8 million, or 23 cents a share, on revenue of $151.6 million. Excluding certain items, earnings were $11.9 million, or 35 cents a share. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call expected earnings of 32 cents a share, before items, on revenue of $140.4 million. During the year-earlier period, the company earned $8.6 million, or 25 cents a share, on revenue of $111.3 million.
For the fourth quarter, Netgear projected revenue of $153 million to $160 million, above analysts' forecast of $148.3 million. Shares were up $3.87 to $27.51. ...
