ScanSoft (SSFT Quote) agreed to acquire Nuance (NUAN Quote) in a $221 million phone-tree merger.
Peabody, Mass.-based ScanSoft will fork over an 80% premium over Monday's closing prices in the cash-and-stock deal. But it will get nearly $100 million in Nuance cash once it closes, which is expected in September.
ScanSoft expects combined revenue to exceed $315 million for fiscal 2006, and says the transaction will be accretive to ScanSoft shareholders for that year. ...
